Introduction
Here are a few questions you probably will be asking yourself while deciding on a company to capture your special day.
Q. So what makes you so different?
A. We use only the best in equipment & techniques, as well
as years of experience, to create a movie where you & your
guests are the stars.
Q. That sound like a bunch of talk.
A. Not at all. Our process is more akin to the general workflow
& quality of cinema than your average wedding video
production.
Q. Like what specifically?
A. Glad you asked! The list is long; here are the highlights.
Q. Wow that's quite a list. Can I see some samples?
A. Of course you can.

Resolution
The more pixels in a given frame the more room there is to showcase sharper & more detailed images. When you go to the movies you are generally seeing a 2K print (2048 x 1152). Now compare that with what the other guys use (720 x 486). At Special Day Cinema, we master at 1080P (1920 x 1080). That's only marginally smaller than the image that your local movie theater uses which gets projected over 30 feet high!
Clarity
The sensor on your home point-n-shoot camera or camcorder is usually 1/3". Professional camcorders used by competitors have three 1/3" CCD chips for the red, green and blue parts of the images, which allows for greater color fidelity. Every one of our cameras uses at least a 4/3" sensor. These sensors are close to 14x larger which means better clarity, especially in low light situations.
35mm Depth of Field
If you take a look at any closeup in your favorite film you'll notice that a part of the image (usually the background) is blurred. This is a deliberate and highly effective technique used in cinematography called selective focus. By selectively focusing on only parts of a shot the viewer's eyes naturally pay attention to the subject, which is a major part of what makes movies look so different from video.
24p & Slow Motion
We show all our videos at 24 frames per second which is what you see at the movie theater. However, we normally shoot 2.5x more frames than we need (60fps) so the video can be sped up or slowed down without losing quality. This looks very different than just using one frame multiple times. Ours is smooth and fluid while the competition's is choppy and stuttered.
Steadicam
Do you want a beautiful and dynamic movie where the camera moves with the scene? How about the breathtaking shot of a camera slowly rotating about you during your first dance? You're looking for the classic Steadicam shot. The rigs used to create these shots are complicated & expensive but we have them because its an amazing tool for creating images that others just can't compete with.
Color Grading
Photographers touch up photos to enhance the look and feel of an image. We use a similar technique to make the images pop called color grading. We finely tune the scenes using a host of tools to lift gammas, crush blacks, fix chromatic aberrations, add or remove vignettes and a whole host of techniques that bring out the best in your day frame by frame.
Custom Editing
Every package we provide includes editing together a custom experience celebrating your day. We don't farm out the editing to over-worked employees who are tyring to meet their hectic quotas. We want the memories of your special day to be as special as the day itself, and so we spend the time to make it just right. All this and our edit turnarounds are done in days, not weeks or months.
3D & Motion Graphics
Ever seen a wedding video with a generic 'Our Wedding' title & some barely legible misspelled text that butchers your names? We certainly have and we will never do it. We create custom 3D & motion graphics using colors & details from your wedding. No generic clipart here. Your final product will be good looking & accurate; we verify your information from the beginning.
Final Master
When we are done you'll have a DVD with the montage that includes the best clips from the day to the song of your choice. Want to share your wedding with thousands? Also included is a high-def version that we host for you online. We make it easy at no additional cost. You will always get at least 5 copies (A "feature" which is normally a hidden upgrade from our competitors). Need more? $15 per DVD is all it costs.
No Up-selling & Pricing Up Front
Are you getting nickel & dimed planning for you wedding? We certainly were when we had ours. It can be incredibly frustrating being shown a low price but realizing that all the add-ons are needed to get what was really wanted. Our prices are always up front and you know exactly what you are paying for.
